Observation Narrative
A variable, well-drained to somewhat poorly drained floodplain along the Willis River. This plot captures a small area of large trees in a much larger but younger stand of similar composition. There is some microtopographic heterogeneity within the plot including swales, hummocks, and terraces. The stand is co-dominated by Liquidambar styraciflua, Quercus michauxii, and Q. shumardii, and includes some impressive specimens up to ca. 80 cm DBH and 36 meters tall. According to DOF data, this area was last cut around 1927.
